On May 2011, School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University participates in the training program named "Crisis Management and Emergency Preparedness in Greater Mekong Subregion", which is part of Phnom Penh Plan, started and organized by Asian Development Bank, aiming at improving the personnel quality of senior-level administrative staff in Greater Mekong Subregion.
The training program, held in our school from May 21 to May 28, has convened 19 participants from government departments of Cambodia,Lao PDR,Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and China. The teaching team is mainly formed by professors and experts of Tsinghua University, Harvard University, Asian Development Bank and China government departments. The one-week program addresses various types of crises, in particular, landscape scale of natural disasters, severe technological addidents, public health pandemic, social safety incidents dixed events,etc.
The program mainly adopts case study method, with using approximately 8 cases, most of which are influential crisis events occurred in Asia in recent years. The case center of our school is in charge of offering 4 cases as Japan Fukushima Nuclear Accident, Chinese H1N1 Influenza Epidemic, Burma Hurricane in 2008 and Indian Ocean Tsunami. Case discussions arouse the participants’ great enthusiasm. On May 28, the training program is closed, with achieving the expected results.
