From May 8th to 11th, Prof. XUE Lan and Director of case center MU Ling went to Indonesia to participate in the 2011 Asia Public Policy Forum, which is jointly organized by Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, Kennedy School, Harvard University, and School of Economics, Indonesia University, aiming at establishing a professional network among Asian colleges and scholars, sharing professional opinions, as well as exchanging teaching methods of public policy courses together with promoting the application of case teaching method in public policy courses. More than 50 scholars, from 22 colleges and universities of the United States, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Singapore, participate the forum.
At the morning of May 10th, case writing issue session is held. Director Mu Ling introduces Chinese Case Center for Public Policy & Management and its work, highlights its case writing standards and quality control processes, which effectively promotes the Tsinghua public administration education level. Afterwards, Prof. Arnold M. Howitt from Ash Center(HKS) and Prof. Vu Thanh Tu Anh, from Vietnam Fulbright Economics Teaching Program, also present their respective case developments in their projects. These statements of the three scholars from China, the United States and Vietnam, arouse the general concern of participants and their active discussions.
At the morning of May 11st, Prof.XUE Lan introduces the development of public administration education in China and its evolution. His presentaion inspires a wide range of interests, a very lively discussion, and participants’ loud applause.
The forum has effectively promoted communication and learning among different countries, different colleges and different scholars between academics, positively impacting on the public policy education and practice in Asia.
